Pack Sunday, 1 person ............................360 € Pack Saturday and Sunday, 1 person ........450 € Bugger. Bollox. Then there's travel costs for people coming over from the UK and hotel costs. So I reckon we'd be looking at a total of around €850 for the dogs nads package and around €600 for the basic package. It was bloody great in the box this year, but I really didn't think that the price would be that high. We could go for a cheap package where I reserve the hotels for people that are interested and people can book their own tickets, organise their own travel, etc for the three days (at €64 per person). Whaddya all think?
About the long & short of it. Good idea, but **** that. Lets do a BSB weekend in the UK? -- Nige, BMW K1200S Range Rover Vogue
Even worse. Likely to be even pricier and with the added attraction of pissing rain. Why don't we **** off to one of the races being held in a cheap hot country, camp, and get pissed?
(The Older Gentleman) wrote in You couldn't put a big hole in 295 Euros via an open bar, over 9 hours? Poof.
snip> Hey, let's do Chimay? We're due a hot one over there and it qualifies on the cheapness, camping and getting pissed. I suspect Adie & I will follow the normal routine and get an evening train over to Calais, drink beer, ride to the circuit for lunchtime the next day and then drink more beer. We'll almost certainly do the town centre beer and food thing then spend more time wandering around the paddock than watching the racing before eating burnt food, burning trees and drinking more beer.
I think they have other bike races there during the season. They certainly used to run a Supermoto race and some sort of F2 series. Anyone got a calendar for 2010???
OK, what about this? http://www.ihro.org.uk/2009/11/events/schleiz2010/ Mid-June, looks a lot of fun, perhaps one of our resident Boxheads can DFV hotels for the journey out and back?
Only if this here resident Boxhead (yes, I know there are others) is still in Europe by then. I should know next week.
I went in 2008. It's great, but being Spa, the weather is iffy (it rained last year). Chimay is better for watching the actual racing. And it's a bit more human-scale, too. Two totally different events, really.
I don't think I've ever been to Spa without being rained upon. It seems to have it's own little micro-climate.
Sounds great. I see that others have baulked at the price, but if consensus hasn't yet been reached, then I'll put one vate in the "still up for it" box.
Sweller tried to get everybody enthusiastic about that meeting last year but I think everybody had booked Chimay so it never happened. I'd be up for it but I'd have to drop going to Chimay. I think we may have a suitable hotel already on the list of places willing to accept cunts on bikes but we'd have to book early. It'd mean setting off the day before we wanted to get to the circuit then knocking off the last 100 miles after a quick breakfast.
