I had made that assumption but saw that there was an additional activation code as well, emailed to those that registered for the freebie. I mean, if they really wanted it to rule the world and kick the arse of MPEG4 etc, then I'd have thought they'd give away with Frosties.
You can still get the codec for free though. It's just the easy-peasy drag'n'drop programs that cost money.
