I have a Valkyrie front tire, available free.

    It's either a Dunlop D206, or a Dunlop E3, I can't recall
without looking. But, I can get those details.

And, it has less than 200 miles on it.

    That's the good news....

The bad news is that it has a plug right in the middle of
    the tread.

    Reply here, or via email.

    Thanks.

I was only speaking of the many who have talked with
me about the Valkyrie over the years, and commented
how they were sorry they'd sold theirs.

Obviously, most of these individuals I cannot identify.
But, two of the most recent incidents are:

    1. It seems that every time I visit Renegade Cycle, Mike
(Renegade's owner) describes how he wished that he'd
kept his Valkyrie. To me, Mike is a real great guy, and
    I value his opinion/judgment.

    2. And the most recent incident just occurred less than
five days prior. I was hangin' out at Keller's(a local beer
and hamburger drive-in), and I went over to speak with
an unknown who'd just drove in on a Gold Wing. As we
were visiting, I quickly learned he was there with another
unknown, riding what seemed a new high end Harley.

Neither of the fellas knew me, nor did they know my
current mode of transportation. So, I'm jawing with the
GW guy, and the conversation turns to the Harley guy,
    and the troubles he's had.

Stopping here for a moment, I'm declaring myself as
Harley neutral. These events were relayed to me from
the Harley owner. I AM NOT bashing Harley.

Anyway, the Harley owner describes all his problems,
and concludes his spiel with - "I wish I'd have never
got rid of my Valkyrie". Which, under further question-
    ing, had been an Interstate.

These guys were friendly(as are most), and the Harley
guy said his *entire* engine had been replaced under
the manufacturer's warranty campaign. And, this with
less that 5K mikes on the $25K Harley. I'm not sure
of the exact model, but it was one of those Harley's
with the fairing, bags, tourkit(aka trunk), etc. Kinda'
like a Road Glide, except I think the fairing was fork
mounted. It was a pretty bike, but I did notice it was
not one of the newer 96ci/6 speed models.

So, I've thought about replacing my Valkyrie with some-
thing a little sportier, but I just haven't found anything
that I like that much better. But, my Valkyrie has given
me years of excellent service, for which I am quite grat-
    eful.

It's not the perfect bike for everybody, but it's been good
    for me.

    Thanks.

----Anonymous, I read all your report.
Say? that Mike guy of Renegade Cycle, aint't that the fellow, that Brian
Walker almost whupped, over the manner of which they treated his
Hurricane, when they had it on consignment?
---anonymous, I agree with all you said about the Valkyrie
Motorcycles. I have never owned a Bike, that I like as much as my
Valkyrie. One reason,it is the best ''starting'' Honda i have ever had,
and it aint fuel injected. I connot get over it. It is so ''Hot
natured'', I hardly use the choke! Is yours, that way?
---Anonymous, your story about the hard luck Harley owner, could be
the same for any brand name motorcycle, ''called lemon'', I believe.
---Anonymous, The special thing about a Valkyrie to me, is they dont
make 'em anymore. Harleys are a dime a dozen, just the facts, no bashing
here on my part, just the facts.
---I went to our new HD Shop last Saturday, and saw some goodlooking
motorcycles. Frankly, I'd like to have a V-Rod, They have a
goodlooking one: purple/yellow, 02 model, for $9,000. Now that is the
    way to buy one.
Those HD folks were so nice to me, nothing wrong with visiting around
the different Motorcycle Stores, especally when they are ''grilling
    hamburgers'', and HotDogs, for free.
I ask them would they feed an old Honda guy, they said ''you bet''
I hung around for about 2 hours....
Sad to say, but I probably never will be a customer, other than
we do buy ''Harley Gift cetificates'' there for a SIL, and another good
friend, who ride 'them' American Made Motorcycles. <g>

Mike is the owner. Brian referenced a "Mike" in his
Renegade recount. I assume they're one in the same.

No, actually mine is very cold natured, and only warms
    up after about 3-4 miles.

Could be. All I know is that Harley replaced the entire
engine. Specifically, the owner stated that Harley had
forgot to install valve guides. But, I rather doubt that as
the true affliction. You couldn't even start an OHV eng-
ine without valve guides, much less, run it for 5K miles.

Well, I like some of the Harleys. Some more than others.
But, they're more like $150K a dozen, depending on the
mix. <g> But even that's not the issue, if I found one
that I liked I'd have it. I do admit an additional interest
    since the 96ci/6-speed models arrived.

I've heard good/bad stories about DFW local Harley
dealers. And, the stories seem to maintain consistency,
which leads me to believe they're accurate.

But, the dealer that seems to produce the best reputation
is that Lone Star dealer in Grand Prairie. I've never been
there, but it's my understanding that they have similar
gatherings on the weekends, as you describe. There's
also a OEM shop in this area, on Irving Blvd, that does
a similar weekend gathering thing. They are really fine
people there, as I have been posted at their location for
several poker runs, in the past.

    Thanks.

I'm sure. I've had to fix what that hack (aka Mike Thompson...the one
you say you "value his opinion/judgment") allowed to get torn up on
one of my motorcycles. Mike Thompson is nothing more than a junk
dealer. A quick tour of his dirty ass shop will reveal how he "values"
the motorcycles in his care. I took my motorcycle over there in good
"sellable" condition and hired him to sell it. I paid him up front to
care for it, and rode it over there. I went to pick it up and had to
trailer it out, found it broken and completely filthy. It certainly
wasn't in "sellable" condition the way I picked it up. All this after
the junk dealer told me "if someone knew anything about motorcycles
they'd over look all this"....even having to trailer it out of his
    shop?

You can "value his opinion/judgment" if you want to, but I'll just
consider my one and only time to leave a motorcycle in his care.
People have seen my motorcycles and know how I care for one. Got any
pics of your bike that you'd trust to have Mike Thompson care for?

so cold natured, especially the V4750Magna....wow, was it hard to start,
I used the choke even in 'warm' weather.
But, this 02 Valkyrie, is so easy to start, rarely do I choke it.
So, you say it takes a few miles for it to warm up? Do you not, let it
    idle 5 or 10 minutes?
It's interesting how each individual Motorcyle has ''different starting
characteristics''... I was the only one, in the family, who could
    ''start'' the Magna.....heheheh..... Mr.JayT.=

Well, I guess it depends on your(or my) definition of
    cold/warm natured.

When I said the Valk was cold natured, I did not mean
that I had any trouble starting it. In fact, as you describe,
it always starts immediately. With, or without choking.

My reference to cold natured was only meant to describe
the subsequent idle/throttle response after a cold start,
before warming. It's just not crisp until moderately warm.

I find it hard to believe that your, or any other Valkyrie,
behave much differently than what I am describing. Since
every MC/automobile/truck I've ever owned has behaved
    similarly.

    Sorry, for my confusion/miscommunication.

==MrJayT responds: ''I was referring to the ''actual starting'' effect
and or procedure, as compared to any other Honda I have 'owned'.
And definately compared to every Harley I've rode with. Those motors
start and sound like an old ModelTFord, turning over....... (kidding)
They all ''chug'a'lug'', cough out smoke, sputter, and spit, for 5 or 10
    minutes. (kidding)
Mine, starts immediately, and is ready to ride, it doesnt
''hestitate/sputter'' one bit, doesnt miss-a-lick, when I throttle it to
take off, and gun it on.
--I am still amazed to how ''hot natured'' it is, as if it was ''fuel
    injected''.
Maybe it's the Six carbs? (Kidding)
So the bottom line is: ''perhaps it is what one compares it to''.
    heha..............regards to ya'...MrJayT.Fuss
