I've just insured a 1993 Leyland Sherpa for £275 FC (inc 'free' breakdown
cover) 36 y/o; no points; on the street in Hove; 10 yrs NCB; £100 excess.

This is as a working van (it's cheaper like that) with Commercial Vehicle
    Direct.

I've just insured a private van as a "for business use"; it was cheaper
    like that.

    Arse.

Katie would have loved that - she sells the things for a living and has
started to gradually fill the house with 'em :-(

  9. OK, I've had a look and I can only find the post about £190 TPFT.

Interestingly, a certain insurer you mentioned who said they wouldn't
touch you did give me a quote but the price was so high it was
    laughable.[1]

Where did you get a quote from, one of the big firms or a little known
    family run type place?

    Care to share?

    [1] I was considering getting it insured at m' lady's house but I don't
think she'd want a SOVan parked on her driveway :)

I found I rarely used the car and when I did it was to move stuff rather
than people. So I bought a van.
