Right, thought that might get your attention...

As you may know, I do pub "mystery shopper" visits. In the next few days, I
have 21 pubs to visit, and I have to buy a pint of Stella in each one.
Naturally I can't drink them, so they tend to go to waste.

So, is there anyone in the Bristol/Bath area that fancies being a
"designated drinker" pillion tomorrow, Wednesday or Thursday? I have to do
Bristol, Bath, down past Trowbridge, Glastonbury, Wells and Weston Super
Mare. Not all in the one day of course! Drinks will all be free, but if you
want to give me a minor contribution towards petrol, it would be appreciated
    (I don't get a mileage allowance :-( ).

    The conditions are as follows:

    1) Must be fairly near South Bristol, so I can pick you up.
    2) Must like drinking Stella!
    3) Don't take the piss out of my riding!
    4) Need to be free from about 10.30am until 7pm.

    Any takers? Email me.

    Cheers,

    Dan.

PS Don't worry if you're a fat bastard. It's a Blackbird, it should take it!

    HAHA - that's *great*.

I think someone should secretly film the whole day. It can only get louder
& funnier as the day goes on. The contrast between sober and increasingly
anxious Dan and his increasingly pissed guest shouting "WOOHOO! WE'RE
MYSTERY SHOPPERS!! GET YER TITS OUT FOR THE LAAADS!" would make for great
    viewing.

  4. Nah mate King's Lynn is closer and I'll compromise and drink Stella.

I have passed with flying colours, the Sunderland Uni course on advanced
    brewing for micro breweries :)

You have no idea how close to the truth this is...

I've taken fellow students out when I was at Uni. Five pints in and it's
like, "SO, WHY ARE YOU TAKING THE TEMPERATURE OF THAT BEER AGAIN??".

    Still, it's a laugh :)

  7. It would be very appreciated by your insurance company
in the case of an accident as they need not pay.

You would be safer asking the guest to pay for
    some of the drinks.

If you ever have to do Bucks and beyond I'm yer man - although not that keen
on larger I'm more than willing to sacrifice a day getting to grips with
it - and if I've got to fall off the back of anything again it might as well
    be a blackbird . . . . .

    The message <vwq$>
I saw (on the Grampian news) tonight, that a hotelier in Aultbea
has been given permission by the C & E to operate an "illicit still"!

Unfortunately, it'll be 5 years before the product can be tasted....

I think sir is being a little anally retentive here...
Nah, I get them on expenses legitimately :)

Do the far away pubs sober, then get a taxi to the Bristol ones and do a
    pub crawl.

That's my usual plan, but there are none in Bristol centre this time. I've
got 5 in Bath, another 5 heading down past Frome, then across to
Glastonbury, Wookey Hole and home again.

Then Wednesday sees me visiting the delightful resort of
Weson-Super-Mare[1], followed by Portishead, Shire Hampton and Patchway.

I haven't got as far as working out Thursday yet! Largely depends on how
many I hit in the previous 2 days.

Escaped footnote, and a spelling correction...

[1] Though where the **** the "Super" applies has consistently baffled me.

  17. Nope, if you haven't got your car insured for work use, he's right. To
and from work wouldn't include what you'redoing, AFAIK..

When I was a teacher, 'work use' officially included going back to
work in the evening for parents evenings/plays etc.

It may be time to get a new book on motoring law.
Apparently it was decided on appeal in 1937 that if the driver
is not making a profit and would have made the journey anyway,
and it is for social, domestic, pleasure etc., then contributions
to fuel, oil, tyres are acceptable.

Things may have changed since. :)

I don't doubt he could be correct. What I mean is the chances of an InsCo
both finding out someone gave you a couple of quid *and* refusing to pay out
    are pretty remote.

However, it is insured for work use, as the nature of the job dictates I
    travel a lot.
Even unpaid work? Sounds about right :-(

  20. Going to school plays & parents evenings? social - sort of...domestic
    - definitely not!...pleasure - doubtful!
