  1. Anyone want a car to save me the bother of driving it to the scrappy?
It's the Rover 827 that Mr Eaton donated to the list a couple of years
    ago.
    Taxed until Sunday.
It's reliable, just needs a few expensive electrical bits for the MOT
(and the fuel tank leaks if filled more than halfway).
    Located in Coventry.

Fuel tanks leaks and it has electrical problems !

So it's perfectly sound then !

Feckkoff. I'm actually trying to reduce the number of cars I own, not
    increase them further.

This has nothing to do at all with the fact that I got a few quotes
for proper naughty engines for the RX-7, and I will deny that this
could have anything to do with the fact that the compression on the
rear rotor on mine is getting near "rebuild required" values.

OTOH I've just found out how much proper Elford Turbos go for these
days and have had to conclude that even given the above, it was a bit
    of a bargain...

    Can't say I didn't warn you......
Is that how much they sell for, or how much people ask for them?

    He's done it again!

Engine rebuild on a Wankel? Two grand?

And your point is? I knew the risk in the first place and in this case
I'm happy to accept it, because the driving experience is worth it,
even with the engine being a bit down on power.
Apperantly sell. Actually it turned out that the turbo kit alone on
mine is worth a bit more than I paid for the car, and that's not even
taking into account the mountain of spares I got with it. I knew they
were rather rare, but it seems that the survival rate wasn't that
high, either, so prices have been creeping up somewhat.

A grand for a rebuilt engine, 300-400 for a known good one with a
    recent compression test.

One built as sir would like it (ported and a few other mods) would end
    up in your ballpark, fitted.

It's just that I can see a Timo moment on the horizon when you price up
the cost of doing this ;-)
Takes all sorts, I suppose. Don't really see the attraction in them
    myself.

Blimey, it's finally turned its toes up has it? That was a good old
    car, that was. <sniff>
