I've been giving some thought to a possible Frankfurt route. I've been hampered by a few details, none of the three European atlases I have consistently agree on route numbers. Although two are a bit elderly [1], the third is crap. It doesn't help as my route planning tends to err toward the airily wave my hand in the general direction of where I /think/ I want to go, school of thought. Avoiding massive motorway use and relying on what look like good (UK) A roads [2]. Average speeds should be high enough to get the lot done in 11 hours, including fuel stops. Calais | N43 St Omer | N43 Lens E44 | N43 Cambrai | N43 Charleville Mezieres | N43 Montmedy E44 | N43 Luxembourg | A48 (M) Trier | E422 Hermeskeil | It gets messy here and my maps are too old and too small. | A66 Mainz | Frankfurt AM Thoughts from those who know these things? [1] One map sees fit to distinguish between the Bundesrepublik and Demokratische Republik the other, gives the AA telephone number as WHItehall 1200. [2] I really don't want to be bored shitless on a motorway. There's also the thought of elderly small capacity bikes blowing up, or bits falling off, with continuous WOT action. Especially as 60 mph on 'big mopeds' may be unnecessarily exciting on an autobahn.
