France and Spain 2004

    Lovely.

    We were planning a trip to Carcassonne, last Friday week, but it
    piddled down all the way to Pau with no sign of improvement on the
    horizon, so we turned back.

    I considered a trip to La Rhune, but my learned FiL told me it closes
    at the end of August, so that got canned, too.

    Had to comfort myself with a trip to Valcarlos, the long way round,
    via to Porte de Larrau. Very bendy.

    That was on our short list, but we too conceded partial victory to the
    weather. We may well be back next summer.
