"Richard Wood" <> spouted the following in $ohs$:

Coo, thats a posh Illizaroff frame Frag.
A mate of mine hold some kind of record for the 130mm chunk of shinbone
he regrew using one of those frames.

Steady away, and keep off the opiates if you can, they slow tissue
    recovery.

    All the best.

That is quite an impressive piece of kit, a sort of carbon fibre expansion
    chamber for the leg.

How was your stay in the Oxford Nuffield?, I spent a couple of weeks in
there (unexpectedly) in October 2003 and found it to be on the whole,
    acceptable.

    Not all that acceptable.

I've been on co-codamol for 2.5 years now and know that it is the only
think we've found that works well long term.

Told *everyone* this fact, also the fact that numerous other pain killers
    do very little, including morphine.

After ***3*** fucking days of lying there in (decreasing) agony the
bastards eventually tried co-co and it works extremely well, quickly.

Fucking useless "i know more than anyone else" cunting doctors & nurses.

Then had a spat with a night nurse who tried to get me into all sorts of
shit with my assigned (day) nurse who came over and tried to tell me off,
where upon I rapidly shot down all but one of the things she was trying
to tell me off about. She then avoided me for the next 3 days and I never
    saw that night nurse again.

The wards are old, not all that clean, and have two sets of swing doors
leading directly to the outside which people kept leaving open and since
I was closest to these doors I kept on freezing, whilst another guy in
the middle of the ward kept on boiling.

But apart from that, very good sense of camradarie between the staff,
food is ok, and the physios are great - very understanding (the
opposite to Milton Keynes where they suck verily!)

Have you tried pot? If the pain is muscular it may help...

    <snip tale of hospital woe>

Hmm, I guess (thinking about it) that I was actually thinking more about the
food than anything else, in that I was surprised that it was edible, and
served in colour at the Nuffield (when SWMBO was in Wycombe General, the
food was crap, and served in black and white, or sepia).

The nurses at the Nuffield were pretty much okay when I was in there, and
getting a scan happened very quickly (it would have taken months if I was an
    out patient).

The Physio who "did" me was a remarkably flexible young lady, and most
insistent that I bent in places where I had forgotten I actually had places.

Oh well, the good old NHS and all that.

    Hope you are recovering well.

Ooh, take care won't you - no running marathons for a while! Not much can
do for hot flushes - mum went thru quite a range of pills and potions before
    they sorted her out
