    On 16 May 2006 03:52:07 -0700, TOG@Toil,
Seems a bit much, aye. Nice looking though, and all original, as far
as I can tell. Although I didn't recall the chain cover being chrome -
was that normal on the F2?

Anyrood, I don't know if this is as good as, or better than,
yours#H#H#H#H#H the doctor's, but what would you think it worth?

Like the recent RD400 he *may* get such an offer. Whether money ever
changes hands is another matter entirely.
I saw a yellow example at the NW200 which was just as it rolled out of
the showroom. Though perfect I couldn't imagine spending more than a
    couple of grand on it.

    Mine's got a chrome chainguard. But this isn't an F2 anyway - it's an
early one, with the swinging arm-mounted pillion pegs. Must have been
hanging around a warehouse or showroom for a few years, then.

Dunno what the seller means by "starting barrel" either. I can also see
it's missing the tool tray, which is a hard to find item.

Mileage is as near as dammit the same as The Doctor's, which also has a
day-one history, plus an accumulation of period brochures, parts books,
etc etc, including the original service book and handbook.

Condition: ours is superb, and benefits from all new chrome which I
fitted a few years ago. OTOH the alloy engine casings are a bit cleaner
    on this one.

Nigel Mann's one, which was featured in Classic Bike last year, is as
new and has only done about 1500 miles. He paid £3500 for it. ISTR a
brand new zero-miles one being offered for £4k recently.

So... this one is very, very good. I'd value it the same as mine: about
£2000, or half what he's asking as a BIN. If the history is really
good, that might be £2250, but I very much doubt that he's got the
quality of documentation that I've got, so yeah, two grand.

  5. Yeah, I saw that. And I see that got no bids either.

You still up for this weekend, btw? A large parcel of bits has just
    arrived from NLM....

    I'll bell you.

I may just have to pootle over with a camera and a good supply of
popcorn. How may spark plugs should I bring? Do Morini's use more or
    less than Ducati's? :)

  7. Humbug. My mate Niall is coming over on Sunday as well, to laugh and
    point.

  8. OK, Sunday it is then. If you have a tool for getting oil seals out,
    that might also be useful....

Sir is mistaken in thinking that I'd get my hands dirty or that they'd
want my help in the spannering department. Someone has to make the
    tea/coffee.

  11. Oh,Sir has a manual? I have a photocopy only, with all the
expensive-looking sections obscured by oily thumbprints. Bring that
    along too.

I shall lay on unlimited coffee & doughnuts, or even beer and stuff if
    the weather proves warm....

That's more like it. Mind you the weather forecast for Sunday is
starting to look a but iffy.

  13. I have a nice garage. Once we've moved all the bikes out of it, barring
    the Morini.

Refreshments of one sort or another laid on. Cameras will be clicking.

Well, he has a *better* photocopy of the original manual compared to
yours, as that's what NLM are selling these days.
