Been pissing about on ebay for the last week, getting stressed out over a
kmx 125 that dosent start first time, has a few broken bits on it, is an E
    reg, and so on,

went upto £540 so i didnt bother bidding, already tried offering the bloke
400, then 420 or so outside ebay, but he wouldent have it,

turns out the high bidder has not paid up or something, (wether he's seen
the biks and said no way mate i don't know)

Got an e-mail this morning saying he'd e-mailed all the otehr bidders, first
with £450 has it, i was the first, so got a verbal from him that it's mine,
all i can expect really, it's a 100 mile trip to where he is from me, and i
can't go today.. bloody doktors and all that.

so we've aranged a trailer.. biker bloke at the local garage that hires
trailers, the garage don't have any, but he has one he'll rent to us for a
tenner for the day, it's even got bike bars in it and all that as he uses it
to pick up his bikes.. result,

just need to go and fill the van up now.. 50 or so quids worth of diesel to
make that trip i rekon, and we'll have a bike by this time tommorow,

the bike is in the hull area, were in grantham.. lincolnshire, i've know the
bike has no ignition barrel, and apparantly the reason it dosent start every
time is a weak spark... so anyone know of any bike breakers on the route
from say lincoln to hull.. A16 i think.. or is it the A46, i don't know,
that long straight boring road that goes past where the red arrows flie
    from,

Thinking of calling in at a breakers on the way back, and get a few parts..
thinking weak spark.. either stator or the CDI unit, what they'll cost i
don't know, but i havent got a clue where the breakers are nowadays, been 10
years since i was at one, and that was in peterborough/cambridge way.

    It's fucked, then?
    IME, CDI units aren't cheap.
To be honest, it sounds like a right shed to me.

    Its always a possibility.
Ordinarily, a woo! would be given here, except..

There may be a legitimate reason for this. May be one somewhere.

If it doesn't have a v5, walk away. In fact, don't even bother going there.
    Uh-huh. Right.

so anyone know of any bike breakers on the
If you are happy the bike is legit, ie, engine/frame numbers have not been
butchered and the bike has a v5 that matches it with the last listed keeper
being the bod selling it then consider it. Do not buy a CDI unit without
having the current one tested at a Kawasaki agents though.

In short, be very careful you don't get ripped.

Personally, I wouldn't touch it with yours. But if you must, first get him
to give you the engine, frame and registration numbers "so you can HPI it".
You already have his name and address, yeah? If it's wrong, send the police
    instead.

And then give him neg feedback.

he hasn't told me the reason for the ignition barrel being missing yet, but
he does have the V5 and previous MOT's, and he gave me the frame number on
the first time i asked him a question, just need the engine number to do a
    check then.

yup i already have his name, address, phone number, where he's taking his
wife tommorow, where he's been in the past week (right by my house) and so
on.. called him today about it, so it's not all e-mail stuff, plus he's
selling a couple of other item in a similar condition.. i.e needing work to
complete them, he did say he was going to turn it into a field bike, then
stopped when the engine wouldent start every time, thats where i got the
    weak spark thing from.

it's not gonna be the cdi unit.. been told they either work or dont, so it's
either the coil (what i was thinking of when i said cdi unit) or the stator,
a few minutes with the multimeter when i get home should tell me which and i
    can take it from there.

the bike is only £450, from waht everyone on here has said, i should expect
    a shed shouldent i??
everytime i ask for a bike under £500 i get told not to be silly, and i'll
need at least a grand to get owt running and or decent,

but like i have always said, spanner work does not scare me at all, infact
i'd rather have an engine in bits that do body work any day (tho i like
making things out of bits of metal.. but i think that's the angle grinder
and welder fetish.. must be the sparks and smell of burning
overalls/skin/that sawdust pile in the corner really :)

i will of course check the bike out the best i can, if it's too dodgy, i'll
turn around and come home, but really as long as it's not nicked, then i'll
be glad of the chalange, i seem to get bored when i'm not doing something
like this, just finished building a motorhome from scratch, seems boring to
just go out and camp in it, hence the bike :)

  7. It's really, really unlikely to be the coil. "Weak sparks" just don't
tend to exist in this day and age of electronic doo-dats. Either the
    fuckers work or they don't.

This implies that there's something much more serious wrong with it.
Worn-out crank seals? Fucked piston rings? Fucked bore? Fucked bore
*and* rings? Completely gummed-up carb? Completely gummed up exhaust?
I can see you spending 500 quid on this, so you'll have spent your
grand, and you will still have a shed at the end of it.
