Pah. The days of the early morning FOT are long gone - I never start one
before 11. And how long does it take to pack a suitcase?

V (for that is her initial) generally starts packing 2-3 weeks in
advance. Whereas I didn't even own a suitcase til last August.

Men might be from Mars, but women are from Pickfords.

It's not just the amount, though, but the method. Everything has to be
laid out in piles, usually on the bed, before then being packed into
one of the several possible backs got out and tried for size. So I
just wait the hour or two until jude's got all her piles out, check
she's "finished", then add a little pile of my own and let her pack it
    as she sees fit.

When I'm going away on my own, it's usually just a question of picking
up the required number of socks, undies, Tee-shirts, a spare pair of
jeans and possibly a change of footwear. Takes about ten minutes,
tops, and that includes hunting through the cupboards to find where my
    boots have been buried.

I was sent out to buy a suitcase last year (we already had several,
but no small ones since my "bag on wheels" self-destructed @ La
Defense Granda Arche RER station in August). I bought one the same
make and style as the larger Skyflight case we already have.

Her (indignant) response? "Why did you buy one that colour?"

Both new and older cases are dark grey.

Good. They're a fucking menace, as are the idiots who use them. They
effectively increase a human's 'footprint' by three or four times and get
under my feet when I'm trying to get anywhere. Our local supermarket has
started using 'baskets on wheels' in a ploy to get people to buy more; a,
obvious point which the fuckwits who use them either don't get or don't
care about. So you get some bloke built like a brick shithouse wheeling
one along behind him, and inside there's a packet of Laughing Cow cheese
and a toothbrush. Why the ignorant **** doesn't just pick the basket up
and carry it, beggars fucking belief.

yeah but starting at 11 means us leaving home at 9ish and out of bed
    before then.

on a Sunday that aint gonna happen.

packing for three days work, three suits, shirts, spare tshirt,
knickers, sox, boots. about half an hour. I do the pile on the bed
thing though. its the chargers and other stuff that takes the time to
    sort out.

  15. I use the other method - put it in a pile on the bed and Cheryl packs
    it..

    As per darsy: *boggle* .
Sure, it's always a hassle, but I find if I do the piles thing then I
can't be sure if something's packed or not. Putting the case/bag on
the bed and putting the piles straight into it makes much more sense -
quite apart from the efficiencies involved with fewer dat transfer,
sorry, clothes moving operations, it makes it much easier to be sure
    that something is packed.

When the other method is used, I'm often going to be in the situation
of thinking "I wonder if X got packed? I know it was in a pile on the
bed, but did it get rejected before the pile was packed?"

heh. I have about 5-6 suits, and I don't tend to wear the same one all
week - usually one on Monday/Tuesday, a different one on Wed/Thu and
then (usually) smart-casual on Friday. Then a
different combination of 2 different suits the next week. In the
summer though, I quite often wear "jacket and jeans" a lot of the
time, which is a look that I imagine might make you scoff.

But if I were going away for a few days on business, I'd wear the same
    suit the whole time, definitely.

My Mrs does that, but mainly so that once *I'm* ready to do the packing
(?), she can check everything off the list.

actually, they're all fairly conservative. Two of them are even pin-
    striped.
I used to know a bloke that wore the same suit for *years* without
getting it cleaned. It was fairly shiny round the crotch and pockets.
    heh.
