At least A makes the noises. I was surprised to hear last night that V
had been trying to book a room somewhere without even telling me.
Failed, fortunately, due to price, otherwise the "go on then, but I'll
be at home so I can do a FOT on Sunday" conversation would have gone
almost as well as the holiday planning.

The one place I do NOT want to be is on west cuntry roads on a bank hodilay.
Anywhere worth visiting will be jammed solid.

22 full grown men chasing a bladder of wind around a field.
    And people pay to watch.
    Daft buggers.

It's lethal the way it's played there, though, isn't it - no quarter
given. And they're so good at it, some of them, that the other players
have time to go back to their seats, sip their drinks and have a chat
while waiting for their turn. I found the whole thing hilarious TBH.

    heh.

Anyway, I've sorted things (I think) by agreeing to:

    a) going out tomorrow morning to buy 2 new mattresses (how exciting!)
    b) heading to the West End tomorrow afternoon to see Star Trek (how
    romantic!)
    c) going out for a meal afterwards - 90% likely to be the Palms of Goa
    (how ukrm!)

Don't go to Dreams - that way madness and much shoutiness lies.

Oh, I won't be going any further than our local department store or
M&S, both of which have sales on at the moment.

We looked in JLP a couple of weeks back - did you know it's possible
to spend >5K on a mattress?

I had typed a footnote, but I then deleted it, along the lines of you
probably not being seen dead in places like Dreams.)
    *boggle*

I thought it was enough to spend £1300 on a whole bed, although the RRP
    was ITRO £2500.

Their website only shows them up to three and a half grand, mind.

Wow. I thought we'd gone really, like _really_, OTT when we bought a
new one for our flat a few months back. Around 3K Swiss, IIRC, which
in real terms[1] equates to something less than 1500 sterling.

Fucking comfy, it is, and the ability to sleep properly played a key
role in my ability to ski properly without getting knackered, so it
    was worth every rappen.

[1] Whatever the current rates, I reckon, on price equivalence, that
the 'correct' rate would still be over 2 francs to the pound, or
    around 1.30 Euro.

It'd be rather cheeky to rack up extra miles on it too.
