I've been asleep for most of it. Unlike some people I'm quiet when I'm
    asleep.
I'm a mother. We all do that.
The length of the things is ridiculous. If I'm using MSN it's just the
    nick and that's it.

She doesn't want to hear my musings on the characteristics of any
    offspring, then?

It's great isn't it. They are so easy to wind up.

I just got a withering look and 'your point is?'

Tell her I have a whole album of baby photos

Laura cleared off upstairs about an hour ago with the digital camera, then
sloped back down and did some emailing. Of course, she didn't erase them
off the CF card, so I had a quick look. They're the least appealing
    pictures[1] I've seen of her...

[1]Mugshots, you pervs. Nothing to see. Move along.

Is this post ceramic hair tongs? I was told about that earlier. Tell
her it is a skill to be used sparingly.

They were dyeing each other's hair and flailing about with the tongs on
Friday night, so yes. Wild party, huh? Two days later and the hair is
still as straight as Bonwick in Bangkok. She's managed to acquire an early
    birthday present today: guess what?

What is this desire so many parents seem to have to embarrass their
offspring, at that age when they're most sensitive to such things?

Yes. So that they can practice being vulnerable and showing their
feelings in the relative safety of a family - so that they know when
they do it in the big bad world it sometimes takes a bite. In a family
you get nipped rather than chomped.
To show there is (like it or not) a risk attached to this.

Besides as well as the teasing you get the support and the semi
serious discussions (the difference between infatuation and love for
example - one I wish mothers of many grown men of my acquintance had
had with them) well you do in this house and I'm sure Platy is the
    same with Laura.
How it appears on here and how it is done are two entirely different
They give as good as they get you know. I'm not actually going to show
his girlfriend the naked baby pictures. Well not if he keeps up with
    the payments <cackle>
