I have a Honda K2 750 with a leaky fork seal.I have recently replaced it bot
the tube has a couple of little pits in it.
Some time ago somewhere I read that the seal can be replaced with one from
an xr250 or similar honda trail bike.Apparently this seal has a double
lip.Hope someone can steer me in the right direction.
    Cheers

If the stanchion is pitted then it'll chew up any seal over time, no
matter how many lips it has.

Do something about the pits and then stick to a CB750 seal.

  3. The pits in the fork stanchion will still rip the seal apart. Replace or
re-chrome the stanchion. It's the only solution.

(Or fill the pits with Araldite and sand down smooth - that works).

Thanks for advice.Pits very tiny.To hard to patch.Seals from xr250 have
double lips and should help for a while.

  6. Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, Ron
Too small for the seals to notice?

  7. At the risk of stating the bleeding obvious, each lip will travel over a
pit every time the forks compress, and again every time they re-extend.

In other words, they will wear out *exactly* as fast as single-lipped
    seals, you thick twat.

Double lips aren't there to save forks from leaking when the stanchions
are shot - they're there to provide a double scraping protection against
dirt and crap, which off-road bikes see rather a lot.

In that respect, they're maybe worth fitting to good undamaged
stanchions (though even that's debatable) but to stanchions already
    damagerd? Not a chance.

Now don't be a pikey, and if you can't fix then replace the fork
    stanchions.

  8. Your arse, laddie.

If they are really tiny, take some fine wet'ndry and rub the edges of
    the pits away.
It's a bodge, but it *will* work.

Or do the job properly and get them re-chromed.
