During a recent trip to Scotland I had my portrait taken while
overtaking a few cars. Can anyone confirm my assumption that if the
speed sensors work both ways, i.e. for vehicles moving both away from
and towards the cameras, the latter functionality only works for cages?

    TIA

They obviously 'work' for bikes (i.e. take pictures), but they won't be able
    to identify you.

But if the same camera gets you multiple times they'll be after you.

Thanks - it was wrt the identification issue I intended the double
meaning of having forgotten to smile :)

(and honestly, it was a perfectly safe overtaking. When checking the
    speedo it indicated 66 mph)

Oh yes and how come I got a ticket in my car then? Driving towards a
    GATSO?
Er, in fact, it's happened twice.

Unless this is a whoosh situation, of course.

  9. ****. In which case a certain forward-facing camera on the A21 has got
multiple pix of a certain Ducati with some very identifiable stickers on
the fairing, and the rider's finger held in the time-honoured pose.

I haven't seen any Truvelos in Holland...
I've also set off a number of GATSOs on my bike, while heading towards
them. Purely for research purposes, of course.

How, exactly? Aer they really going to set up a trap specially for one
biker, when they'd not be able to prove it was him in the pictures
    anyway?
Not 'proof' enough for a conviction, I'm sure.

I drive towards a Gatso every morning at 45 -50(nice clear wide road, no
junctions for a mile, 6am, Zero trafic, ever) with no harm to my license.

In fact the first time I worked out they didn't fire was when a plod came
hurtling past me at an easy 80 when I was tootling at 30 and the thing
    didn't go off.

But if the same bike's being snapped around the same time of day,
    repeatedly,
they could sit and wait one day and catch the bike red handed, so to speak.

In Southampton they regularly set up a "safety" van just around a bend
around 50 yards before a fixed forward-facing camera. Catches sooo many
people who are just getting ready to slow down for the camera around the
    bend.

Unfortunately you are already half blinded by the people coming the
other way flashing their headlights. Dunno why they do that.

  19. Do you mean the Gatso on the A21 heading South at the end of the dual
carriageway just before Tunbridge Wells ?

If so it snapped me on the 26th May but so far nothing in the Post...
