Surely they'll recognise all the hard work and long hours that you put
in. I get the impression you're pretty conscientious.

Don't get me wrong, I'll get some. I just don't expect it to be
anything special, our bonus percentages are set at division level, so
are very 'one (european) size fits all'.

    Standard corporate stuff really.

It's not just about money though, interesting work is also important to
me, I get that in spades.

My bonus is likely to limit me to a very shonky CG125 :)

What is this "bonus" thing of which you talk? The way my mob is
going, I guess I'm lucky to have a job.

quite a large percentage of my annual salary is performance related,
    paid as an annual bonus.

Actually, I suppose it depends on your definition of large, but
typically bonuses[1] here are 5-15% of the basic salary.

I'll be fairly deeply dischuffed if it's not a decent whack (though I'm
getting a 16% pay rise on my basic salary, so I can't complain /too/
    much).

I thought the days of those kind of raises in IT jobs were _long_ gone.

    gone.

that includes the change in salary caused by my getting promoted last
    August. Unfortunately, not back-dated.

Except it's not, as investors don't like it.

Assuming you're talking about the bottom line on a company balance
    sheet, sure. Agree 100%.

With internal targets however there are a lot more variables, some
incredibly wooly. I'm sure you know how it is as well as anyone, Ben.
It's just part and parcel of being a corporate whore.

Not fishnets, they were varicose veins.

And I love the way all the sales bods swan off to Vegas just when you
need to be setting up some work for the 2nd quarter.

I'm not sure it's 'the sales bods', from what I've been hearing it's the
    entire software division.

    The cunts.

Very good. I can beat it with 17 bikes up to 250cc in a single garage
circa 1981/2. Some were suspended from the rafters. All belonged to me
and my mate. I had 7 lovely RD400s at one time, all in a single garage
    for about 9 months.

It may be. I've only heard of services bods staying.

    Oh, as you were.
Be that as it may, I'll be off there as well if we hit our target[1]
    this year :)

I'm thinking of trying to move across myself, outsourcing is too cost
constrained to get those kind of perks. If we're lucky they send us to
    Bangalore. :-/
    Piece of piss, that.

Hope so. They got 72% last year and everyone was a bit gutted.
