For those using the bus lanes in London

    Like anyone's going to take the slightest bit of notice of that. Most
    London motorcyclists can't even read English, let alone abide by the
    laws of the land.

    They forgot #11 - assume that at least 50% of the cyclists purposefully
    ignore everything in the Highway Code and then some.

    1. We share bus lanes with other vulnerable road users, take extra care
    around them.

    Cyclists? ****'em all, at least until they learn what a red light means, use
    a number plate that makes them liable, pay insurance and wear adequate
    protetive gear.

    3. Look out for pedal cycles and give them a wide berth, they may
    suddenly change direction or position.

    Add "use of electric or hand made turn signals" to my lines above.

    5. Always assume cyclists cannot hear or see you behind them.

    Add "rear view mirror" (I have them in my city push bike, it costs 5 fucking
    euros). And they ain't deaf. Loud pipes, etc.

    6. Do not use excessive speed when using bus lanes or overtaking
    cyclists.

    There is a fucking speed limit.

    7. Do not overtake each other.

    No races, no fun. Bollocks.

    8. Watch out for other vehicles at junctions and side roads.

    Wish they did the same.

    10. We are ambassadors for motorcycling, riding in a bus lane is a
    privilege that needs to be respected

    (thoughts from a city with about 1 motorcycle per 5 inhanbitants and an
    increasing number of push bikes)

    On a motorcycle I only abide by the laws of quantum mechanics. And not all
    of the time.

    (tonight's posts look like sirloin and Rioja dinner has been specially
    powerful...)

    It's all pretty obvious.

    Cyclists are a menace, scooters marginally more so. Bus lanes are shit
    because they tend to be full of buses (either stationary or moving
    slowly because they're stuck behind another fucking cyclist) or have
    cars poking out across them from side roads trying to turn out.

    I read the other day a cyclist complaining about bikes using the advance
    stop boxes at traffic lights. I don't know what the problem is really,
    since any cyclists in the area are long gone by the time the amber light
    even thinks about making an appearance.

    Not all. I scrupulously respect traffic lights, and although it's rare,
    I'm not the only cyclist here who does so.
