  3. It's actually a good rat. Everything works (or did), it just looks like
a pile of shit, which is what a rat is about.

The best ratbike I saw was at a Border rally some years ago. A nold
Beemer with totally homemade alloy fairing, dripping with black and Nato
paint, lots of bits stuck on for various jobs over the years, and a car
alternator belt-driven from a pulley grafted on to the old taper shaft
that used to hold the original bike alternator.

Fing was, it was a proper rat; organically grown over the years
(decades) and had a mileage on it approaching starship figures (the
ownder, a Swede, said he'd been round the world on it). All the bits
that needed to work well did, and it ran as sweet as a nut.

Actually no. There are a couple of mounting plates that are rusty, but
I checked over the frame and it seems okay. The chain is completely
fscked, as you could well imagine. Apart from that, I'm really
surprised at how well she's held up for the last six years.
Right. Here we go. I've always called the rat a "she". Force of habit.
But, IIRC, unless things have changed, all forms of motor transport in
English were commonly known as she.

Blimey, I can't believe that two people said that. Do you really mean
    it???

BTW, no it doesn't. The bits of wiring loom all over the bike should
    have given that away. :)

It has a certain charm about it. I wouldn't restore it though, just get
    it going again.

    I've thought about that.

But I'm not sure about registering it in France. I don't know if I
could, TBH. I know that dog and H had loads of probs registering H's
400, as it wasn't sold in France.

To register the Rat would be fun to see. I may just have to keep it on
UK plates at the folks address.
