What is attached to the seat in this picture? Is it a passenger rest with a
    bag on it?

Also like the available front brake lever travel :)

  8. You're gonna get 'em anyway.

It's the sort of bike an Orc would ride. Love the serrated front
mudguard. And does the front brake actually work, with the master
    cylinder at that angle?

    of:

The bike's been with my folks for six years! I've had to cover the
passenger rest with a plastic bag to protect it, as it was one of the
few parts that the sheet didn't cover.

I've not been in a situation until last year to bring it over to
France. Even then, last year was hectic, as I've just moved to a new
house. This year, is the year I'll bring her home. (BCB, quiet!!)
<G> When I first built her, I had to strip down the caliper to clean
it out. I think I may have to do the same again. :)

N.B. The tyres were inflated six years ago and haven't needed pumping
    up since.

I'm (obviously) going to have to go for a complete rebuild again. It's
a tad daunting, as I've been out of the maintenance and rebuilding
scene for a while... I don't think I'll rebuild her as a Rat though.

Oops, bad form, etc. When I did build her, it was with assistance too,
so that makes it more scary.

Notice the "ear ring"? Nice touch, I thought.

Shortly after finishing her, I was on my way back from the folks in
MK. I had no tax, as it was close to Xmas and couldn't get to the post
office in time. I was coming off the M1, when plod pulled up next to
me and motioned me over. I thought, "Bollox". When they stopped, they
said "No real problems with the bike, but we do have a problem with
the spikes on the mudguard. You'll cut someone up with that if you
    crash into them."

They saw the funny side, when I pointed out that they were rubber.

They didn't notice the tax disk either. Phew.

BTW, the brakes don't work anymore. :) Pretty much nothing does. Heh,
the bike stopped running after there was a short in the wiring loom
and it pretty much grilled all the electrics. Hence the bits of wire
hanging off with pieces of white tape attached, to remind me where it
    all went... Six years ago.

Heh, I could say "Why do you race?" You enjoy it, eh?

For me, it's the same, it's something that I enjoyed. It gives me more
confidence on the mechanical side of bikes and it's fun. Not counting
bruised and bleeding knuckles, dropped nuts and bolts, spare bits,
    sheared parts, etc, etc.

  17. what a complete heap.
Maria will not let that across the threshold and well you know it. :)
Why don't you just scrap it? The thing's held together with rust.

Also why is it a "she"?

  18. Beautiful. Absolutely stunning. What more can I say - I'm utterly
gobsmacked at the sheer presence of such a thing.

Ah, thought it wasn't possible and you'd forgotten :)

I measured the length of the bike as I had the swinging arm extended
and it's about 210cm in length, okay?
