I'd have thought it would be under warranty.

Rather worrying that break. Reading the questions and answers, it seems
it just fractured on the road.

  4. I would suggest that bike is not covered by any warranty.

    Araldite, then rattle-can it.

Slightly more seriously, I think that has to be sleeved somehow...

So, did the frame break, 'cos that would mean that downtube it made of crap
metal and needs to be replaced; probably complete frame.
or, is that where "they" cut thru the frame to get the chain/u-lock off that
was attaching it to the lamppost?

  14. Because I was curious, and appalled, I asked the geezer why he didn't
ask for his money back, or contact Trading Standards. He's only had the
    bike for two weeks, FFS.

His reply: "I just want rid.. Bought it cheap and found out they build
    them cheap"

Seems to me that the type-approval wants a very hard look at, sharpish.

Hmmm, that sounds a bit dodgy to me.

I suspect he's not being entirely truthful about how the damage
    happened.

If it were me, I certainly wouldn't just bung it out on ebay.

  17. I can't see any other damage on the bike. Nothing consistent with a
crunch. And no dirt plastered on it, to suggest he'd been a bit
    enthusiastic off-road.
Nor I, but OTOH, look at how much it's been bid up to. £460 with 17
minutes to go. It probably only cost £600-odd new. I'm amazed that
people are bidding on it. I wouldn't touch it with yours.

Maybe he fancied himself as a traffic-light wheelie god, but wasn't as
good as he thought he was?
    Aye, that surprised me, too.

Mine was, ISTR, 600 quid delivered to my door, or not far off.

  19. Actually, thinking harder, this has to be the ultimate in Nigeing it on
    Ebay.

God no. Nige would have wrapped duct-tape round the downtube and sold it
as "Perfect, but too powerful for me".
