I certainly would NOT.. especially on usenet.. The background on this little
fracas goes back a ways, though.. Keith Schiffner opened his big mouth and
let his fingers escape reality He made some irresponsible claims and was
called on them.. HE . made the offer to provide his DD214 to substantiate
those claims he was making.. Brian is holding his feet to the fire

Anyone who wants to look at my DD214 will be looking at it, face to face
    with me..

The closest call I've had has been a Failure to Yeild situation.

Riding a 2 lane back road in north Texas, I slowed to turn left into a
driveway to take a look at a map.
Just as I started into the lean, someone passes me on the left doing well
over the speed limit....in a no-passing zone. This happened no more than 100
feet from an intersection with stop signs. I had failed to "check my six".

I felt a physical chill as the cold hand of death passed over me. I was mere
microseconds from comitting to make that turn.

Toughening up Failure to Yield penalties would hopefully make someone think
twice about driving that agressive and negligent.

Dead is dead. Whether causes by "conscious or unconscious" thought.. The
dead biker who has just been killed by some "unconscious" teen ager, driving
his parents pickup without being qualified nor licensed to do so, really
doesn't care.. his survivors do.. Shouldn't you ?
That's a straw man argument, isn't it ? How about that teenager that I
    referenced above.. That is reality..
I don't pretend to know the laws in New Zealand and obviously .. you aren't
very familiar with what is happening in our government.. Maybe.. if you read
real close .. you might learn something and be able to prevent it from
happening in your own country.. Other countries have already experienced
what I am talking about.. There are motorcycles parked in them.. They are
hauling their motorcycles to the areas where they can be ridden.. Those
motorcycles are not legal on public thorofare..
Your passion for "road safety" is misplaced.. What is safe in your country,
could be a disaster in another.. Road Safety is not the issue that is being
discussed.. Maybe you should start another thread and discuss "road safety"
    to your heart's content..

LMAO... You seem to harbor the confusion, Nurick.. Not one of the District
Advisors or other officers of any advocacy group has solicited your
membership.. that I know of.. As the poster boy for Welfare Riders.. that
    should tell you something..

Hopefully.. these attacks on the rights of brothers and sisters in our
country will not be effective and will be defeated before they become the
reality that they represent.. Worse case scenario is that they do become
effective and commence enforcement.. Your motorcycle will only be allowed on
streets and highways while it is being hauled to and from the areas that are
designated.for you to ride it.. Who will you appeal to for help, Nurick..
for the past several years, you have effectively alienated yourself from any
    credible support.

You might be advised that this reality is much closer than you believe..

squid, the comments regarding DD214's just kinda stuck out. I wouldn't let

BILL WALKER responds)--- The only reason anything is "inevitable"
Bjay, is if we allow it to happen to us.. Running stop signs and red
lights are a form of failure to yield.. The laws are on the books and
warrant a citation.. or less.. The Bill that is being proposed in our
Legislature suggests more severe penalties be imposed.. Originally..
this Bill was proposed under a different name.. "Kill a biker, go to
jail". That Bill wasn't acceptable because of the name.. Most believed
that it only pertained to Bikers.. Since then .. it has been altered and
    changed somewhat..

I agree, but it probably will eventually be Federal. Just like the Seat
Belt Law was a State Law for a short period of time, then it went
Federal, because folks crossing state lines, right?
~~Like when we rode down south to La, we forgot about the Helmet
requirement in Lousiana., Then when ya ride into another state, ya don't
haveta Wear one, that's why It'll eventually be a Fed Law, don't you
    thinK?
~~ The ''Kill A Biker, Go To Jail'' was what I meant about the Yield
Law, first being initiated mainly for that reason, Bikers.
~~And I tee totally agree, but its really up to us Bikers too watch for
the cagers out there, going thru the entersections and not seeing us, or
    a bicycle, or a Vehicle.
~~Stiffer punishment will do some good, but not help the Bikers who die
    in those situations.

    (calgary) (some snipping done )
Considering all I do and have done to improve the quality of life
enjoyed in Canada, I find it offensive to be called a "welfare biker" by
one of the TMRAII's most visible spokespersons, simply because I am not
actively involved in your fight to protect riders rights.
    /
I am sure there are riders living in Texas who are actively involved
making their community a better place to live, who have been verbally
abused by your membership and will not support your organization because
of the actions and image presented by a few of your more vocal and
    visible members.
    /
Your membership is a reflection of your organization and has a direct
impact on the financial and volunteer support given to your
    cause.------Don binns of Canada--

    --Bill Walker) says below--
You were right in you opening of these comments, before you commenced
all your own horn blowing.. You have no idea what you are talking about
and no dog in this fight..What you do in Canada is your own affair and
this Texan could care less.. Getting involved in this little fracas on
behalf of such a deadbeat as Albert Nurick doesn't indicate that you are
much more than him.. You are welcome to butt out, when it suits you..

Bill, Calgary is coming in here to to read this thread, right?
This Texas Topic ain't being Cross Threaded is it? I know I'm not.
Because your original Post was aimed at Texicans, right? You didnt share
it with the Reeky fellers, huh?
Not that there's anything wrong with that, but, I don't think I've read
about you are anyone of us Texicans saying much about Canada Laws, huh?
    No big deal!
I for one, am glad Mr. Binns is very active in his countrys law stuff,.
Shoot, according to him, I betcha he's
somebody in his neck of the woods up there, whatChaThink??

    (allan Kirk quotes)
    I agree with you, Iggy.
Those crashes are usually not consciously caused by the driver. The
    problem lies in their subconscious.
    /
And if there are enough little old ladies put in jail through the
Failure To Lead bill, that bill will be changed back real quick.
And, by then, any chance of the introduction of sensible change based on
changing attitudes and skills *before* the tragedy, rather than hitting
people with a big stick *after* the tragedy, will have flown out the
    window.
    /
I get thoroughly sick and tired of kneejerk idiots who don't understand
nor know enough about road safety problems and then try to use a
    sledgehammer to peel an orange.

‘‘Lawdy Mercy yeah’’ me two, buddy.
I've had a few chilling close calls, that sent currents of fear up my
spine. Mostly from close encounters with Automobiles.
    /
I once was in a 10 mph turn at a inTown area, and a Car got in ahead of
me,skimmed me, and I actually was leaning on his door, as we both
pittled on around the curve. I din't go down, He stopped and apologized
and apologized, Then I laughed a bit, cause of the manner I was pinned
to his door, ina split second, as did he. But it could have thrown me to
the pavement, broke my arm or worse, part of the deal on a motorcycle, I
    say. BJAy

I know...grunts like him are what lubricate the
tracks of Cav Troopers ride. 8^) Guys like him are
called "Cruchies" because they are too stupid to
run and not smart enough to get killed before we
run over them. Hell, I don't trust a punk grunt
like him anyway..I recind that offer. He'd just
steal my ID anyway. Tony if you wants I'll scrub
the SSN and you can see a scanned version...but
trust me Brian will say we both lied.

I don't have to. Brian provides too good of an
example...grunts are like that, not much better
than a Russian peasant in his attitude. I've still
got my coin the I corp SGM and couple others.
Korea was fun(easy duty especially running the aid
station at CSCT3) those ROK troops have more fun
than the KATUSA's. But I still preferred serving
with 1st Cav. Far better than the grunt unit at
Ft. Lewis (25th ID 3-21I Gimlets) bunch of lazy
    crooks.
