    R obbo says...
My fans piss me off sometimes with their noise too, but I wouldn't be
where I am today without them, so I always make time to say hello, have
my photo taken and sign autographs.

    Upon closer inspection:

Water is sucked out of bucket of cooling liquid (water tank), via pipe
on to desk water block. It is then pumped up to the radiator and
then... vanishes? I'm sure there's a link missing.

Yes - you're looking at how he primed it, not how it works in normal
    operation.

Just get a watercooling kit from Asetek. I've installed 2, they're
    good quality and don't leak.

Not so much overkill as "clumsily executed". One can easily build a
decent, reliable watercooled rig and keep it compact using off-the-shelf
    components these days.

However, if all you're after is quietness and you've got lossa space
inside your box, why not try fanless air-to-air cooling?

What have you got in the box at the moment? Pentium 4? Athlon? Standard
    'sinks'n'fans?

  10. They do work, but you'd need to be into some serious o/c'ing to justify
it. Personally, I don't see the point - the speeds that a chip can be
forced to are easily reached as standard within a few months.

    Cool.

And is it me or does all that appear quite modestly priced?

They're not bad, mebbe a tad over the market rate for some of their more
"run-of-the-mill" stuff (drives, etc.) but they do know their onions.

I've bought stuff I couldn't get anywhere else from QuietPC plus they're
    good people to deal with.

Oooh, schweet... I've been contemplating cranking things up on my P4 box
and that could be darned useful...

'Ere, man, yer .sig-sep's borked, like.

I'd suggest that some of your time would be well spent honing your
posting skills - specifically quoting and attributions:
I rest my case. Or did you really post all the quoted text yourself?
And a signature needs a separator. Sort it out, eh?

At the end of last year I had a meeting with Andre at Asetek who showed
    Cooo!

Both those suggestions are useful. I'll look at the box later and see if I
    got space enough.
The box is in a cupboard on a large bureau and doesn't have and sides to it
so air flows quite freely through the front of the cupboard through out the
case power supply fan at the rear (Or visa versa) so airflow is good, but so
    is noise.

At 29 euros that spaceship on a stalk is good value, I might go for that.

    Personally I think it's a half-baked attempt: 4/10. Liquid sodium
cooling is the only way to go.
