Having owned one, if you lose the boot, I fail to see the point of a
    scooter.

Plus, if it costs as much as the 'executive' scooters usually do (£4k+) then
my missing of the point increases as you could get a nice 500/600cc 2004
    motorcycle for the same cost.

Can't have been a biker then.
Money. Lots and lots of money. I mean, like shed-loads.

It's just a matter of taste, just like many people like sports motorcycles
with no 'carrying' capacity in preference to tourers with in-built panniers
and top box, so many people want a big-engined scooter with minimal carrying
capacity just for the 'sportiness' style of it. As in all walks of life
fashion and style are an important element to many people.
That isn't the issue in reality, as some people pay lots of money for
something they want, *just* because it's something they want. In the same
way as you could pay £?? $?? for a basic 500 motorcycle, you could easily
pay double that for the same capacity bike, which just has more style,
    street-cred, call-it-what-you-want. I don't know how much, for example, a
Harley costs over a 'basic' bike, but they sell enough of them purely on the
image alone, so the big 'Sports-Scooter' market is bound to succeed for the
    same reasons.

It's often the 'heart over head' thing when people buy motorbikes, scooters
    etc :~)

No, you're missing a fundemental truism here. Let me point it out to
    you in words you'll understand.

    Scooters are Shite.

Nah ... that's far too much of a generalism, as there's much too big a
'variety' of scooters now to put then all in the same category. In the same
way that someone might say "Harleys are sh**e", but yet they like other
    makes of motorcycles.

This Nexus is the beginning of the crossover from scooters to motorcycle
hybrids where your average Joe Public (are you there Joe?) won't know the
difference. That head-on photo on the page, for example, on the page looks
    very 'motorbike-ish' :~)

.... and that girl in the clingy red dress certainly knows what she wants
    :~)

  6. Erm, they are shite, and that's because they are (with the exception
of the latest model) underpowered, underbraked, overweight, vibey
    tractors.

it was head over heart in the case of my burgman400. i would have liked
another honda, but with a burgman400 going for the same as a reflex250? with
    more features? bigger engine?

    no contest.
