So... nuns fired from a trebuchet should carry foglamps?

BTDT, in the gathering rush-hour gloom on the ring-road around
    Brussels -- with a broken front brake-line...
I opted to stop at the first motel I saw. Next day it snowed on
me in the Eiffel mountains, and I arrived back in Untersiggenthal with
    bronchitis.

    She was almost worth it.

OK so we agree on that, although I'd say it's greater than 99%[1]. I
think they should be banned because of that misuse, & you don't, so
    let's leave it there.

[1] I can't remember ever seeing them used properly, i.e. switched off
when it's obvious the car behind has seen you.

OK OK OK, calm down. It only happened to me once anyway, 25 years ago, and
I was in a dark-coloured mark 1 Ford Fiesta which was made of tin foil and
needed all the protection it could get.

Thus spake Champ () unto the assembled multitudes:
See my other post, which said I did this *once*, 25 years ago, on a motorway.
It was in a very heavy downpour with spray everywhere. And I've said before
that the last time I used my rear fogs *at all* was about 5 years ago. OK?
Now stop behaving like a ****.

  9. That won't work, they want 'em to illuminate. It does make a useful
    chav/numpty indicator, I suppose.

  10. You serious? or just winding me up?

Fog lamps, properly fitted, make a shorter and lower beam than dipped heads,
so using them in addtion to gains you nothing other than to create more
glare or dazzle. Unless, I suppose, your dipped lamps are unbelievably
    useless.

They're only useful in fog so thick that dipped heads make excessive glare.

  11. for the same reason you shouldn't rely on sidelights to make it visible from
the front. In daytime fog or serious spray, you need dipped head on to make
the motor visible, side lights are a waste of time. Except those 21W ones
the volvos and saabs used to have...
