    That's really good.

Actually, I typed that post wrong. I had a late afternoon appointment,
and got it the next morning.

After the doom and gloom BS the bloke in London told me, I was well
    pleased.

    All the best,
    Tom

I was banging on the door at 9 in the morning at Peterborough and was
fortunate enough to be the next one in line to the mouthy bird who was
determined to have a row and after making sympathetic noises to the
bloke behind the counter found myself through the 4 or 5 processes they
have and back out before lunch. The mouthy bird still hadn't completed
    stage one.

Right, ive given the passport office a sob story about going to a
funeral and will be in london 8am tomorrow :) I hate doing it, but its
    better than death via frau.

However I have also just phoned BA and they tell me I dont need one to
leave, only to get back, but even then it would be a short process of
form filling at customs... so either way Im buggering off, cheers all :)

Errr, officially you do. Don't forget that the UK hasn't signed up to
    the Schengen agreement.

Besides, it's getting back into the UK that may be a problem, as they
    do check for ID.

He could always borrow the expired passport of some 12 yo girl, I
    suppose.
