Yes, im a tit, Ive got the flights booked for the 12th and I cant find
the passport. The guy on the phone says that London has a 1 week waiting
list at the passport office and my only other choice is apparently wales
    which is 6 hours away...

Is there anything im missing? any other way round? I reeeeally dont
wanna drive 12 hours in the car for a passport :-(((

I'm struggling to think of anywhere that is 6 hours from Newport. Do
    you live in Aberdeen?

  12. Where are you travelling to? If it's Europe, you don't need a passport.

I'd like to be at a UK check in when you arrived to fly without one. Could
    be an interesting conversation.

  14. It's the law, innit? Just need photo ID. Some friends of mine recently
went to the UK and back with just their spanish ID cards. Might try it
next time (obviously with my passport in my back pocket, just in case).

Peterborough, £42 for the passport, £47 for the premium upgrade and
    fingers crossed.

You'll have to make an appointment through the helpline (no is on the
purple form) and take the form in. They'll need to get the previous
file by fax and be able to id you from it (a countersig with access to
a fax would be a good idea, just in case). Not strictly needed but
original long birth cert etc can help speed things along. Simpler if
you have/had (and your c/sig has) a ppt issued since 2000. Oh, and
you MUST be there early in the day (pref before 10) if you want to get
    it on the same day.

The premium target time is 4 hours for a renewal, but they make no
guarantees when its a lost passport

Drop me an email if I can help any

    HTH

Can anyone guess where I work?

As I've said on here at least once before, the UK will be happy to let
you leave with virtually bugger all ID.

Coming back, on the other hand, is an entirely different matter.

Although in the case you mention, a photocard driving licence is more
than sufficient for 2 way travel.

  18. Indeed. They do warn that the other side may not be so happy to let you
    *in*, mind.
I dunno. We got Bruce into the UK with no pisspot.

I was late getting my daughter's (first) passport for a school trip.

The bloke in London told me it would take 14 days.

Made an appointment in Peterborough (parking is easy and just across the
road) and the nice lady smiled and said: 'When would you like to pick it
    up?'

I (thinking it would be two weeks) said: 'Uh, right now?'

Her face clouded a bit and she said: 'We can't do that... how about
    tomorrow afternoon?'

    Painless
