I've been to all those places and have never taken anything more than
insurance docs, a driving licence, and the ability to shrug at anyone
    official looking.

If you really want to stick to the letter of the law, then I believe a
set of bulbs is required in France (Even then I don't have a set). If
    you're in a cage, I think a triangle is required too. I don't think
    there's anything else.

For the other Euro countries, I don't know. But as the others have
said, I wouldn't worry about it. Just give a shrug and shout loudly and
    slowly "I DIDN'T KNOW"

  7. For NL and Belgium, beware speeding too heavily. They're not so keen on
it and rather militant. Okay if you get happy snapped, but if they pull
you over, it's going to be painful.

I don't bother with bulbs and documents etc.

Cloggy police will expect you to have *everything* with you if you're a
    resident, you know that, right?

For France it's GB sticker, warning triangle, full spare set of bulbs,
fire extinguisher, first aid kit, spare set of glasss if you wear 'em.
IIRC one should also bring insurance docs and V5 too.

On the bike I just take passport, insurance docs and V5.

  10. Credit card, toothbrush, recovery card. For tools, spars,, etc, unless
you're on a ShiteOldBike, the only thing I'd tote would be one of those
    tubeless puncture repair kits.

*Maybe* a set of Mole Grips, on the basis that they can be made to
butche^h^h^h fix just about anything the stock toolkit can't cope with.

  12. Point to UK registered bikes.

    <flashes Uk driving licence>

(not for much longer though :( )

So, what is 'everything' in cloggy terms?

Shirley that's not all needed on a bike?

I've got **** all of those in the cage apart from the triangle and the
insewarance sticker. I forget the carte grise half the time.

Sorry, wasn't very clear. I just meant the paperwork bits. They will be
very pissed off if you don't have your licence with you and can charge
    you for driving without one.
Insurance docs are also required and I think registration docs also
(Deel 1, 2, 3) but I'm not too sure about that.

The other bits, like warning triangle, bulbs, first aid kit, I don't
think they would ever check, unless they wanted to throw the book at
    you.
I carry all that in the car but not on the bike.

The only times I've been stopped by the police was for breathalysers
and have never been asked to produce any docs. I drive quite a bit,
    maybe 140 - 300kms+ every work day.

    Clogs.

    Spare clogs.

    Reserve clogs.

    Cheese.

    Raw fish.

A small pottery windmill, painted in blue and white, with a "Delft"
label peeling from it, that plays "Tulips From Amsterdam".

    Spare reserve clogs.

    Dyke plugs.

Stirrup pump in case the plugs don't work.

Inflatable dinghy in case all else fails.

Rations for a week at sea.

    Flares.

    Emergency clogs.

    Need I go on?

  18. Ahh okay.
I always have it in my wallet - doesn't mean I'll always produce it
    mind, but that's another story.
Hmm, it's easy enough to chuck them in the car - doubt I'll ever carry
    them on the bike though.

I'd need to check the bulbs, but the audi has triangle and first aid
    hidden away.
I've been pulled twice, both times in a (different) rental, my driving
    licence has been enough.

    Thanks for the update.

Last trip to France, I had under the seat a First aid kit, spare fuses,
toolkit, cable ties and a weeny can of chain lube.

*All* of had a use - yes, even a plaster from the first aid kit to help
patch up Daz's leaking bike. Actually, the fucker still has most of my old
    toolkit and spare fuses. ;-)
