Right, I am being quoted 250 quid to move a sink unit from near
Harrogate to Bath. Where can I find a better price?

Well it can easily get to York on the UR and onwards as conditions allow.

Could anyone get it to Manchester, either for this Saturday or (probably)
    next Sunday?

    Heh, is it gold?

Seriously, I know someone in Wetherby (just down the road) who might do
it, but it depends, I guess, on how delicate/heavy/large the sink unit
    is .. :)

I would talk to a local butcher, I'm sure you can get a better deal than
    that.

Not a chance! He says a Belfast sink unit ideally has to be stood up,
is very top heavy, is hard to strap down securely enough in his van, he
wouldn't really be interested in doing it, and that ?250 seems a fair
    price! Sorry.

  10. (so I can get other stuff in the van and make more money on the run)
    (because I stood it up)
(because I don't have any pallets, load straps or tie down points in my van)
    (I can't be bothered)

Ha, you can take the boy out of the slums but you can't take the slums
    out of the boy.

Are you planning on getting someone to do your weekly wash in the
    sink?

Only in summer; I need the space for coal in winter.

As for getting it to York if required, it has to fit in the back of my saab.
how about nige, he has a Rangie and **** all else to do.

Thanks for the offer, but I've decided to go with the original
quote. shiply.com came up with better prices but delivery times would
have been awkward and from what Paul said, 250 is about the going rate
for a one-off run over that distance (500 mile round trip).

You can borrow my pick-up if you like, but by the time you've spent
probably 80 quid on fuel, you're talking a lot of hours' driving for
    the sake of 170 quid.
