FOAK: Top Box rack for ER-6F

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Anonymouslemming, Jan 20, 2009.

  1. Hi all,

Just a quick question - does anyone know of an alternative rack to the
    445FZ that Givi supply for a Kawasaki ER-6F (08)?

I'm looking for a top box for both day-to-day use and occasional short
runs to France and the like. Givi only seem to do the 445FZ, and this
has a load capacity of 6KG, restricting me to the monolock cases. I
also read somewhere that monolock was not recommended for high-speed
use, but I don't know what they consider high speed.

I was hoping to find something that would let me carry a monokey case
(preferably the E460 or E52) with around 8KG of stuff in it. Heck,
when travelling, 4KG of that is the chain :)

    Thanks in advance,

Simple answer is to ignore the weight limit. Everyone else does and the
cases never fall off or break the racks or mountings.

  3. Ah, ok...

Besides the weight though, isn't the monolock system less robust /
well fitting than monokey? It does seem that Givi has done some double
skinned monolock cases now at least, but I was worried about the
    fitting and security as well.

    Thanks,

When did you last hear of anyone having any make or model of hard
    luggage broken into?

  5. Heh - I live in a neighbourhood so pikey that DHL won't deliver :D But
then, the gear wouldn't be on the bike there.

I was more concerned about security of the box so that it doesn't fall
off in motion, but as you said, it's not like you see these things
bouncing around the roads every day :)

So basically you're saying you can't be sure of which magazine, you
can't even be sure which chocolate bar went missing. I put it you, Mr
Bear, that your memory of the night in question is not altogether
clear, and that as a witness you are worse than useless.

You Honour, I ask for a short recess so I can kick my client's arse
down Old Street until he remembers.
