Do not, under any circumstances be tempted to solder it yourself on a
sunny day, wearing shorts, without a workbench...

Around 20 years ago I worked installing/repairing 2 way radio systems
and early car phones. I shared a workshop with a TV repair outfit and
learnt a few tricks about repairing TVs from them. I was rather
skint[1] so when my TV failed I asked Bill what it was likely to be:
"PSU board, those chassis are famed for it. Look at the regulator[2]"

So, I pulled the PSU board out and without thinking put it on my lap to
work on it... to have the pleasure of the fucking thing discharging
large, charged, capacitors through my bare legs. That smarted, I can
    tell you.

[1] It was a time of mass unemployment and I'd offered to work for 'dole
money plus my bus fare' for 6 months- about 40 quid a week; after 6
months they put it up to 65 quid...
[2] I can't remember the exact conversation but you get the picture.
