Can anyone please recommend a decent News server for me to access on a low
rental, its just that my current temporary service provider "newnet"s
    newserver isn't at all well.
I can't even read posts since I had it put in a few months ago. If you click
on any it just says "no longer available". IE its a bit cack.

    Thanks

I use Easynews for $10/month (£6). It works a treat, has 40-day binary
retention and unbelievable non-binary retention - it's still listing posts
    from July for this group.

Maybe a bit much for what you're after, but I recommend it.

For text only then news.individual.net is the usual answer.
For binaries I use astraweb as a top-up to get posts missing from telewest's
    server

Aha> I was vaguely wondering the same thing: NTL's server is getting a
    bit erratic.

Wot he said re Astraweb - pay by download service is good value, fast and,
    obviously flexible.

    At the moment it's $25 for 90gb
For text only that's a lifetime and for binary use it's 18 DVD images.
    Pretty good value IMO

I didn't know anything about that. Top marks chaps, thank you.

Strangely though....the newnet newsfeed appears to work today. However its
been far from perfect every moment I have used it to date, so 3rd party one
    has to be the way.

Free text would do just fine...blimey I have been overwhelmed, just one
    would have been great.
Thanks a bundle, gentlemen and scholars alike.
