If you had a pair of plates stolen off your car, would it be recommended
to apply to the DVLA for a new number? [1]

Or would you just inform the police and reply to any future NIPs with
    the crime reference number?

[1] Both the front and rear plates were neatly removed from Katie's car
    whilst she was shopping yesterday.

Sounds like a 'get out of jail free' card to me. Just get it in writing from
the plod and then go and 'enjoy yourself' (in the SOs car)

  3. So somewhere there's a clone. Inform Plod, keep records, be prepared for
amusement and hassle in equal measure.

Is it really worth cloning 1500 quid's worth of ageing 156, though?

Probably some local chav retards just wanted plates to stick on their
    Corsa.

    Already done.

Well, reported to the front desk.

A real police officer broke off from his doughbut break after seeing the
car in the car park through the canteen window to helpfully tell Katie
she had a number plate missing. When he realised she was there to report
them stolen, he made his excuses and went back to his doughnuts.

When the tickets start rolling in, referring to the Scania 156 in the
    picture, there'll be a clue.

Who wants to bet that somewhere out there, a really optimistic set of
blaggers is preparing an armed robbery, and hoping they'll make a
successful getaway in an Alfa 156?

  9. A) That wouldn't work with any ukrm-er I can think of and:
    B) If I was planning to pinch a car by such a roundabout method, I'd
choose just about anything other than an old Alfa.

Same here but it was just the rear. I did get stopped once at Bishops
Stortford services after I had forgotten about it then when he came back
and said "have you had cause to report anything to us in the last say 6
months?" the penny dropped and I was on my way.

Funny that old bill only phoned up a week after to ask if he could come
round and lift some prints off the car, I told him... I'd cleaned it
since then (Well I had to clean the back to get the new sticky plate
    stuck on).

My sister had her bag snatched when shopping. She reported the event to CPP
