Right, thinking of buying a Shite old BMW for the winter
    it's and R80RT. of 1986 vintage
    test rode it today.
how long does it take to get used to the sideways movement at tickover?
    how good are they?

They're lovely. You need to relax, chug along and get used to it. You'll
know you've gotten used to it when you start thraping the tits off it. The
sideways movement isn't anything to worry about, and disappears as soon as
    you're rolling.

    What's the mileage?

    Tis true.

R80RT - it rocks (c) Bear most years

Old memory not working... was the '86 year single disk or twin?

Originality is optional. I think '85 or '86 was the first of the
monolevers, and I suspect the RTs all had twin discs.

That sounds about right. I suppose the carbs could just do with a
    balance.

Nothing to do with it. If the carbs are out, it'll be a bit rough at
tickover, that's all. The sideways movement is a reaction to the flywheel,
clutch etc spinning up when you blip the throttle.

You're as bad as that Murray, you are.

    No, really :)
Not quite. I did have a R80RT for slightly over 2 years.
