FOAK: Smart Cars

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Steve Fitzgerald, Feb 3, 2007.

  1. I noticed on here the other day a comment about Smart cars not being up
to motorway driving. I hired one a couple of months ago to go to an
event in Rugby from London and I was quite satisfied with it's ability
to go up the motorway (as long as you're happy sticking at 70-80!).

Anyroadup; it got me thinking about possibly getting one for the commute
round the NCR to work (34 miles a day, at all times of the day) as a
replacement for the bike, as it's not a bad little car once you get used
to those funny gears it has.

Does the FOAK have any idea of the long term longevity of these things?
Being me, I wouldn't want to buy a new one and I don't want to get one
with 60k on the clock to find that they all fall apart at 60001. There
seem to be quite a few early ones about, which suggest it's not that
bad, but then it might just be girlies doing a couple of miles a week.

This post made me chuckle. I find the idea of LT having a massive car park
for their staff highly amusing and slightly disturbing.

  3. Promble is, getting *around* London is hard by public transport. If you are
going in or out, it's reasonable.
