  1. No, people become addicted to drugs because they like the effects.
Eventually, if done long enough and often enough, the effects aren't as
pleasant anymore but the belief is that if you keep doing it you'll feel
better: Of course IME and O, not everyone's the same.

Yes, but at the age of 30, what happens fro here isn't going over-ride
    my essential nature, is it?

  4. No, people become addicted because they can't do without the effects.

    There is a difference.

Taking smack as an example, it can reduce sensitivity to endorphins,
resulting in a reduction of natural pain relief.

The highs may stay the same, but the lows will get much, much worse.

That's an addictive drug, rather than an addictive effect.

I thought you were talking about the "petit mort" for a minute.

  11. What's the difference between "white death" and "petit mort"? The white
death didn't last very long. A good breeze on the face or fresh air
    sorted it out fairly quickly.

  12. It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
drugs began to take hold. I remember "sweller"
Chances are the thread in the sump is ok; so this is what you do...

    1. Take the sump off and throw it over your neighbour's hedge. Go out
and buy a replacement and fit it.

    2. Throw the van over the neighbour's hedge and buy something decent.

    3. If you're really determined to keep the van (bit of a masochist,
aren't you?) you could try this...

If the sump can't come off easily... tack weld the sump plug to anchor
it and just drill it out and replace. This would be much easier to do
if the sump can come off, but if that was the case, you'd be as well
    going with option 1.

    Remember, ebay is your fiend.

The petit mort involves a whole lot more fun beforehand!

  15. Depends what you mean by fun. I never got petit mort by having loads of
sex but I did feel quite ill on occasion when I'd smoked a few bowls in
    quick succession.

I'm extrapolating from evidence as are we all. The quality of that
evidence and the methodology used to obtain it is another matter. We
can set up a double blind study with peer review if you'd provide the
    funding.

So Darsy isn't allowed to know whether he's Darsy or not, and nor is
    anyone else, and ....aaargh
