What's the best way of sending newspapers abroad minimising the
    likelihood of damage to them?

The PO wants me to roll them up, but as they are souvenir papers I
doubt the recipient will be too pleased to receive something creased to
    buggery.

  3. Well assuming you're sending them air, you want the package to be as
small as is practical. I'd say either a big FOAD jiffy style bag with a
sheet of stiff cardboard inside. Probably mean folding the newspapers
    once, in half.

If that's an issue, ie you want them to be mintier than a smint, then
you'll be wanting a really big FOAD pizza style box. Remember, the
bigger and flimsier the packaging, the more likelihood of damage.

You could roll them - start at the spine and they shouldn't crease
anywhere - get the biggest diamet tube you can - maybe the core from a
roll of carpet? Trouble with this is the extra weight of the dense tube
    = extra postage costs.

    I think she may have.

It's normal to send papers rolled up in special newspaper envelopes (I
still have a pack knocking around) although it's unlikely to crease them
the ends would be exposed. So in this instance a tube maybe a better
    answer.

Putting the paper between two sheets of cardboard perhaps? However
describing a PO counter staff as clueless because she suggests the
standard way of sending a newspaper is a little rich if you can't work it
    out yourself.

She never mentioned a newspaper envelope, she suggested getting some
brown paper to wrap around rolled-up the newspapers, which 'we don't
    sell here'.

So I don't think claiming clueless is a bit rich at all.
