If you do this, then you must send the logbook away to have the change
of colour recorded, before you sell it. Apart from the legal
requirement, it'll set alarm bells ringing with any clued-up buyer who
    checks the V5 properly.

Most don't, of course. And if you tell 'em it's been resprayed anyway,
then you can make the change when you sign over the V5.

"special tool" is such an apt description.

My ZXR-750 back along was the One True Colour, but the log book said it
was red. I wrote and told DVLA but they seemingly didn't care.

it never was a green bike, it's always been the silver black model -
except at the moment the fairing sides are also black, instead of the
    silver they ought to be.

that's a thought - it has a Hindle full stainless system on it, but I
suppose some sort of legal can could be bodged on. Nothing else about
it should be an MOT failure. It would need a speed cable too, mind.

I'll see what Antony think's of it at the weekend, mind.

Sounds like a nice round number to me.

Probably have to be collection or UR, as I'm unlikely to be passing your
    way any time soon.

It's largely okay but I'd get the £50.00 off Ogden before he sees the
    exhaust ;)
