I have a mate (honest) an OAP who when riding his pristine R80RT hit a ****
    off pothole.

He submitted a bill to the council for reparation and got told to beat it as
the road had been inspected regularly.
This has resulted in a small claim preliminary hearing to be held soon.

Has the FOAK any experience of this....... the claim value being circa £500.

What are the briefs likely to ask?

He's in to deep to bottle it and to be honest he shouldn't IMO as the road
    has a history of repairs.
He also is a bit deaf is he entitled to any help for that.

    Any guidance appreciated..

<snip plod grief and useful info>

Looks good, preliminary hearing held and my mate was informed by the Judge
that the defendant would settle out of court.
Now talking of waste of money surely the Council could work out that getting
two companies involved would cost more than the sum he was claiming.
First company told him to get lost as the road was inspected blah
blah.................., then it went to a solicitor after he sued through
    small claims
Any dealings with solicitors I have had they have cost about £100 per hour.
So adding it up it looks like this will cost them about a grand where all he
wanted was a bit of compensation.
Not their money I suppose or they may have hoped he would go away

    Thanks all for guidance etc.
