Nah, not really, it's a big pussycat until you get to over 8k rpm,
where all hell starts breaking loose. The bird just had bags of torque
between 4 & 7k rpm, but no more real urge when thrashing it to the
    10.5K redline.

Having been used to the linear power delivery on the bird, it takes a
bit of getting used to the 'no power/full power' throttle. If the P.C.
dials this out then so much the better.
Right bike, just has rubbish fuel economy. I'm just moaning that this
'problem' is made worse by PowerCommandering it.

    Cheers,

    Paul.

  4. (Zymurgy) came forth with the following in
    uk.rec.motorcycles
It does. It's not so on/off around town and it does seem alot smoother
through the range with the standard can on. Putting the Yoshi on made it
go back to the snatchy feeling at the lower end of the revs. That's the
case with the B1, the A2 I don't know because it was totally standard

That's cos you had a gurlie one.

Mine's going on a dyno tomorrow; then it's going back with the
Promotives on, to see how many horsepower they convert into decibels.

I suspect at least a handful.

    Proper attitude.

Are you aware that in one measure of horse powers there are about 740
watts? It is not the handful you should be looking for but the
efficiency with which it is put to better use.

That and whenever an in-line four with a bling race can goes past; the
revs bouncing off the limiter in third, in town, there's an unspoken
chorus of "wanker" from the masses.

I don't have any real, hard and fast knowledge in this area but had
always understood it as polycarbs were affected by UV hence their three
year max usable lifespan. Glassfibre weren't but needed replacing every
    five due to compression.

  9. FWIW the rule[1][2] with PPE used for commercial climbing applied to
all equipment was user visually tests before every use[3]. A certified
individual visually inspects at fixed periods usually 6 months or a
year depending on usage. Any damage on a visual inspection that
impacts on safety and the item is destroyed and replaced.

Each piece of equipment along with it's serial number is recorded in
the users log book, as soon as it's been five years since first use or
ten years since manufacture the item is destroyed.

[1] not sure if this was a legal requirement or industry best practice
    [2] usually GF helmets
    [3] yeah right

    Well put.

    The only stop I had with that pipe/can combo ISTR recounting on here;
Surrey Traffic (no, not /him/) by J2 of the M3. They pulled me 'cause
of my rapid progress (~ a ton) and the fact they couldn't read my
    teensy-weensie plate.

Only when they'd got me at the side of the road and had the opportunity
to inspect the bike did the can come into play. The older, bearded one
peered down it and needed no torch to spot the almost straight-through
    nature of said device.

In the end, I simply got a rectification notice about the plate with the
    associated £20 fine.

Mind you, they never really /heard/ the can...

Wankers do that without race cans as well.

I'd expect "wtf was that?" to be more likely, considering how fast
    it'd be going.

Well, yes. The red line in 3rd on my bike is over 135mph. As I've
often said before, on a Hayabusa it's 150mph.

The TS doesn't have a red line but I would hazard 40, mebbe 45 and it is
short three cylinders to be of any real relevance but I just thought I
would join in and lend my support by way of posting statistics being as
this actually a thread about bikes.

It is a V1[1], but just because it hasn't got lots of cylinders doesn't
mean it hasn't got heart. Even without the race can as well I have just
as much right to be considered a wanker for screaming past flat out in
third as the next man. More so in some respects.
