I parked my bike on the (wide) footpath outside my flat this morning
while I went to get my luggage. I got a parking ticket for `parked in
a restricted street during prescribed hours'.

    Can I win a challenge?

Unless you parked within the boundaries of the property, no. The
pavement is classed as road for the purposes of parking tickets. You
should have obscured the number plate and tax disc - traffic wardens
aren't allowed to touch the vehicle to determine the reg number.

    Probably not.

There again, I always try and get full value for money by challenging
it and being a complete PITA - especially with those cunts from the
    police state of Westminster.

I'd be tempted a) challenge it on the grounds that you were loading
(certainly round here the parking wardens watch your car / bike for 5 mins
or so before you get a ticket) and b) that you can't get a ticket for
parking when they told you to. They should use the word proscribed. Exact
    same mistake in Sheffield, FWIW.

  5. Good point. So: who spelled it wrong? ParkingBastards or Mike?

  7. How so? Cuntish official behaviour, whether by a pen-pusher or a minion,
should be questioned, and a fuss made.

You should have taken it all the way to the top. Such blatant disregard
of the proper use of language on official forms should be spanked,
    thoroughly.

Remember, most of these jobsworth cunts are only in made-up jobs to soak
up the expanding population of jobseekers. The ones in quasi-official
    uniforms are the worst, imo.

As far as I can tell, I was in the wrong.
I am not convinced the use of language was incorrect: the offence is
one of parking on a restricted street during certain hours, hours
    which are prescribed.

Often the ticket is written with a defect so you should check the
statute that they charged you with. Once you read the said statute see
if it applies to what you are accused to doing. Contact a traffic law
expert by phone see if you can get some free advice. If you have auto
club insurace review your policy most good ones will reimburse you to
fight traffic tickets using lawyers up to an amount. Most traffic law
experts charge less than the insurance amount. In the U.S. we win 90+
percent of the tickets we represent and the real specialists charge
less than the auto club companies reimburse.
