FOAK: Ovens, fridges etc

  1. I feel like going "la, la, la I'm not listening" but I know you're
saying it as it is. I need some fairly big things doing but trying to
work out how to get it co-ordinated between contractors [1] is taxing my
brain. I then have the great task of selecting contractors and trying to
get them to talk to each other and get on site at the same time. Oh and
negotiating the price and ordering everything etc etc.

The other aspects are that I don't like most of what is offered by way
of "design" for a lot of kitchen and bathroom kit. It's designed to be
out of date within 5 years and yet no one can justify replacing the
fittings in these rooms on that frequency. The other completely barmy
aspect - and I accept this is entirely me being barmy - is that I really
have no clue about how work out what colours I want for paint, wood,
tile and furniture finishes. I only have a smallish flat so I can't
afford to get it wrong because it will look stupid. Being colour blind
    doesn't help either.

The chaos I am not looking forward to. Still you can see the light at
    the end of your tunnel.

[1] window and door replacement for almost all rooms, general building
work, kitchen installation and bathroom installation.

Why do none of you like combi washer dryers? I mean, I shove my pants in
and take them out a few hours later clean and dry... how is a seperate
dryer any better? If its that its faster, well Im a lazy sod and Ill
leave it in the washer for a few hours before remembering to put it in
    the drier.

Ah yes, the garage extension. Home of manly power tools. Not (and I
cannot stress this enough) egg whisks and flour sieves.

You can only dry a half-load in a washer-dryer. And your shirts will come
out really wrinkled because the drum's so small -> more ironing

Go down to your local library and ask the librarian for the

    Avoid Whirlpool & Beko.

Go for Bosch if you can afford them. Simple, effective, reliable. The Audi
    of white appliances.

Well. Whilst I may possibly have to concede that as the creeping death
has propelled me on yet another lap of sol[1]. My 'priorities' have
undergone a certain amount of... re-evaluation. I have not yet, however,
sunk so low as to own either of the items you mention. Oddly in fact, I
now seem to be the owner of a wide array of power tools; angle grinder,
drill, routers, sander and jig saw to mention a few.

So you can take yer egg whisks and flour sieves and use 'em to agitate
yer chalfonts. Yer gert slow barge riding, disco queen of t' road.

    [1] I was 40 last Saturday.

The best Bosch deals come from a transferable staff discount.
    Gas hob though, every time.

Well, that may work for you big city slickers. But us country bumpkins
find ourselves in much more inconvemient situations. My local offy is
almost 150 feet away, an intolerable state of affairs.

Have you asked them if they can arrange delivery, perhaps?

The little shop right behind my apartment building bring me stuff when
    I phone them up.
