FOAK: Online Taxdisc applications...

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Sean Hamerton, Apr 5, 2007.

  1. I have just got my Fazer back from its MOT test, which it passed.
However, this has all happened at a most inopportune time what with
Good Friday and Easter Monday. I should have been patient and waited
until saturday to toddle off down to the nearest Post Office, but
instead I went online and ordered my Road Fund License.

My question to you all is thus:

Can I hoon round legally before the new tax disc arrives? I have a
sixteen digit reference number, and printed confirmation of my
application. And would this satisfy plod should I be unfortunate
    enough to attract His attention?

    Thanks in advance, persons.

I think the technically correct answer is no since the offence would be
"failure to display". However, it would have to be one mean plod to not
accept the details you would carry with you.

My displayed disc is actually a laminated photocopy on the basis that
previous ones are either water damaged or stolen. I carry the proper one
under the seat. Again, technically, I suppose an offence
    but.................

Goodness! I have one of those, and it lives next to the battery charger
below the microwave at the corner of the kitchen work-top, where there
is a large accumulation of objects to be found a home, or fitted or
    mended.

My tax disc is a coaster. It's sitting in front of me now. It was
issued in the middle of December and has never touched the bike.

When I go abroad I stick it in my wallet, but that's all.

don't think I've ever fitted a tax disc to a bike, they live in my
    tank bag.
