In case it's not too late I've just got this from daughter (via MSN)
    ;-)

"click on the smiley on msn
    (not the wink)
    go to "show all"
then choose the fucked up ones and click remove
you have to scroll down to custom emotions"

At this point I'd have lost my rag and asked for an apology. I know my
kids swear, but I really don't like seeing or hearing them do it. I've
never sworn in front of them, ever.

You do maintain one or two rather odd habits, I must say.

I don't think it's odd at all - it's a respect thing as well as having
some ability to use this language without resorting to profanity. I've
never sworn in front of my parents and never heard either of them swear.

Odd, as in unusual, in this day and age.

I like to think of it as respectful, not unusual. I have respect enough
for my kids that I don't swear at them, they've shown that they have
    the same respect for me.

No, I think the concept is fine and I agree, dependent though (IMHO)
    on context.

Ours is nearly 19 so not really a 'kid' and whilst I've never sworn at
her in anger (or her at me, nor do I think she ever would) we live and
she works [1] in a world where swearing is 'everyday'.

I'm also happy she knows where it's acceptable (to 'us' and society in
general) and she generally uses it as the tool it's become.

In the case of the MSN thing she was using it as a reflection of *her*
disdain for the same thing as Cane and many others who have replied,
ironic considering she might otherwise be considered to be the sort of
user who might use same. But she doesn't, just in the same way as she
chooses not to use abbreviations in txt messages (to us anyway).
