    Are Acer laptops any cop?

of other assorted network/dvd read write/flash card reader and other
assorted bits of hardware I've never heard of - comes with XP Pro and is
    64bit compliant (???)

£749 inc vat - can't remember the model number

    Ta!

I've sold about 20 that have been abused [1]. Over the 12 month warranty, 2
have returned with a faulty HD. I mus stress though, that all the ones
that I've sold for 'normal' use seem to bear up very well, and be well
made. I'd happily buy one when my Vaio bites the dust.

[1] Thrown in the back of vans in boxes, then carted around the country and
used to teach young adults with behaivoural / educational problems.

I've got two Acer laptops, both been abused (Thrown in car every day, and
generally not looked after) and have handled it very well. I'll happily
    buy another when I'm looking

  8. Good timing, I bought an Aspire 5020WLMi (Turion ML34, so similar spec)
    the other week.

Impressions so far are very good, it's a superb spec for the money...

    AMD Turion ML-34 (1.8GHz)
    100GB HD
    1GB RAM
    Dual Layer DVD Writer
    Wi-fi, Gigabit ethernet
    Radeon X700 w/ 256MB RAM
    Multiple card reader
    Firewire, USB etc.

....for £730 inc. VAT from some PC Business (or something, I'll look it
up if you're interested) place in Brum.

It's really good, big bright screen, decent battery life, excellent
games machine. Only niggles I've found so far is a few slightly loose
panels and a huge amount of pre-installed crap, but you seem to get an
enormous amount of crap software with any new machine these days.

    Still, highly recommended so far.

  11. Is that an iR1 or one hell of a jump from the ZXR?

  12. Nope, it's very real. Actually so far I'm finding it easier to ride
    than the ZXR.

I could seriously rave about it for hours but, in a nutshell, it's
    bloody lovely.

  13. Ooo congrats.
At a guess because you don't have to rev it to keep the power flowing.
Mind you that's half the fun of the ZXR.
You BOSMing? I don't want a go, but would happily have a sit on it.
Then mutter about how I'm a short arse and will never have a big
    powerful bike :(

  14. Yes, but there's so much else as well - it's wonderfully light and
balanced, the clutch is one finger light, the brakes are enormously
effective, suspension has loads of feel, power is linear etc. etc.
Could do. Should do. But I'll probably forget. When is it again?

I'm only 5'6" ish and don't have a problem with seat height on the R1,
although it's not as low as the ZXR.

  15. When I was having a 'sit on and hoist them off the side stand' session
at the weekend (for the forthcoming officially unrestricted licence)
I didn't even think about an R1. The gixxer 750 was rather nice.
Um, what date is it today? Blimey that time already. It's this
    weekend.
Knock 3 and a bit inches off that and add in the fact I'm a weakling
with little or no confidence about keeping things upright when
stopped. I don't think it's for me. Not to mention the insurance.
