I have a moterboard that the specs say will take a P4 2.6GHz Skt 478 with
400MHz FSB. I have seen a 3.0GHz Skt 478 533MHz FSB on EBay with no bids.
Any idea if this would work in my motherboard?

  2. They tend to be backwards compatible, but not forward compatible. So 400fsb
CPU works in 533fsb capable board but a 533 will not work on your board.

Almost certainly, but only at 2.6 / 400 without a BIOS flash.
