FOAK - injury claim

A week ago I got rearended in the 4x4 result and slightly bent bumper for
the Surf and the other guy has got a stoved in front end on a Pug. His
insurance firm have written and accepted FULL liability.

Right then the main point of this is since then I have had a sore back and
the reoccurrence of a shoulder injury. What do I do know? If I am told not
to work can I claim loss of earnings as well, seeing I am self employed.

Depends what job you do as self employed. If it's manual lifting etc then
possibly. If it's sitting in front of a computer I think you'll be hard
pushed to prove it.

In the first instance I would go to a doctor/physio and have them examine
you, taking notes of it all.

Then I would approach... a solicitor.. and get their advice. Your insurance
will probably have one you can use.

Surprised 3rd party ins co admitted liability so early on without any info
about injury claims etc - in my case it took them ages to actually admit
they were at fault.

 

Actually 90% of my time is spent going to and from different engineering
firms for my client all over the UK. As for the quack I'm off to see him
soon. The other lots insurance Co is being VERY helpful

 

Be aware that they may want you to sign something saying that the full
liability is accepted only for the damages to the car and that you
won't be making any further claims. That would bugger up an injury
claim.
