No, *not* for one of my cars...

I'm not exactly big into computer games but I've come across rFactor (a
car racing simulator - http://www.rfactor.net/) and really enjoy
    playing that.

Only that "driving" with the keyboard sucks dead donkeys so I have to
bite the bullet and get a useable steering wheel with pedals instead.

    Any recommendations?

I think the program support some of the expensive Logitech wheel - I
was more after a recommendation for a slightly cheaper one to be
    honest...

The keybord steering is really pants as you can't smoothly control the
car - when I'm using the instant replay feature to find out why I'm
mowing the lawn *again* it's obvious that my car control sucks and that
I look like I'm on a demo run for a drift championship. Smoother
controls would make all the difference...

My son has a quite simple Logitech one (no force feedback) and reaches
"Ace" status fairly quickly in any driving sim game I can throw at him
(CMR et al.) (Now of course he is younger than most here and doesn't
need artificial help :). This also means the Logitech survived long
    hours of use.

Doki was seen penning the following ode to ... whatever:
Ah good, found a few MS Sidewinder wheels on ebay. That may do the job
initially as I don't really want to spend ~150 quid on a Logitech G25
to play a came that cost me 25 quid...

Indeed. Plus I just noticed that there's a community site where you can
download additional tracks and cars. So I did, it would be rude not to
:). Mind you, I don't think I'll try the Ring with keyboard controls.
*Especially* not in the Renault R8 Gordini I also downloaded...

  9. Still need one? I've got one you can have for nowt - but I don't think
it's USB compatible - old enough to need a joystick port. I guess it's
one of the early Sidewinder FF wheels - bought for GP Legends which I
    loved.

Sorry for the delay - yes, it does so I'm definitely interested in the
    wheel. How much for P&P?

I can't find the drivers disk, but I guess these can be picked up off
the web if Windows doesn't recognise it.

And a public "thank you very much" for the wheel, which turned up today.

I still can't drive for toffee but at least the lap times are suddenly
a lot more consistent and the lines a *lot* better.

Time for a little bit of practise on the Ring tonight, methinks.

  16. I got to about 8:45 in a 1967 Lotus 49 playing Grand Prix Legends. I
lost weeks of my life, somebody set up an organised league. Think the
top drivers were doing it in 8:0?. Takes some learning, especially on
GPL - you couldn't even floor it from standstill as all the cars would
    spin.
