Last week I picked up a bargaintastic Dell Dimension 8400 which has
just arrived at my parents' place.

It turns out to have a PCI Express Nvidia GeForce 6800GTO card in
there, which has 2 DVI outputs and that's it. Which is rather a bugger.
It was my intention to use it to replace my main PC so it really needs
TV out, preferably S-video. Before I decide whether to ship it out here
or put it on ebay, would there be any problems (compatibility or
performance) with installing an additional PCI graphics card which will
give me TV out while retaining the 6800 for gaming?

How about a SVGA to TV convertor.

Maplins have one listed for £39.99

    http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=35258&TabID=1&source=15&WorldID=&doy=1m11

It may not have DVI input, but a DVI to 15-pin VGA adaptors are not hard to
find. Indeed I have one here somewhere which came with my video card. I`ve
not had reason to use it yet.

I dare say you could find one cheaper if you shop around.

I used one of them, quality is shite, couldn't watch a film on it, OK
for OHP display from a lappy at some talk but not for any good use.

That was my experience of adaptors but it was some time ago. I'll lob
in a PCI card and, if it's not successful, I'll either get a different
PCI Express card or lob the whole thing on ebay.

    Caveat Emptor (aria.co.uk)

Those cnuts were recently responsible for one of the worst purchasing
    experiences I've ever had. Cheap, but couldn't organise a piss-up in a
    brothel.

Try www.a2zcomputers.co.uk and they're only in Luffbra in case you
have to ride there to punch someone.
