A pleasant project pottering session this morning set me thinking about improving the fuel line arrangements on the Nordie. The bit of simple stuff I put on to confirm the beast runs is not really too clever (albeit it was a freeby). I have one quick connector available and am considering using it so as to permit more rapid tank removal to allow fiddling with the needle positions on the CR33s. The pain being that apart from the main line there is a line linking the two sides of the tank with a small auxiliary tap on the opposite side from the main tap. The main one therefore has two connections. So I would need to rig up two quick-connectors. The alternative is to leave the auxiliary tap shut and blank off the second main tap spigot with a very short length of fuel line a bolt and a hose clip (a dodge I have use successfully before) leaving just the main line with quick-connector. The disadvantage of this would be effectively no reserve. Not an issue for racing you say. Ah, but in the interests of weight saving when hill climbing I usually only have enough fuel in the tank to be on reserve ... but then I want to able to ride it on the road to settle things in and check handling etc.... I am rambling. To get to the point I have been browsing Demon Tweeks. Fancy cloth braided fuel line or even competition hose worth the extra ? Given the exhaust header pipe routing and use of non-standard carbs [1] a bit of 'cool-tube' or 'fire-sleeve' would also be nice anyone got a spare off-cut? [1] I keep the line out of harms way with a zip tie, but extra protection would be good. -- +-------------------------------------------------------------+ | Pete Fisher at Home: | | Voxan Roadster Gilera Nordwest Yamaha WR250Z | | Gilera GFR Moto Morini 2C/375 | +-------------------------------------------------------------+
